Young People Today Are Lonely

Many young people today lack companionship. They are not just lonely for a few hours or a few days. Loneliness is a lifestyle for them. Cigna, which is a health insurance company, surveyed 20,000 young people. They were asked questions, and they were given a loneliness score between 20 and 80. People who had a score of 43 or above were considered lonely.

Fifty-four percent of the people who were surveyed stated that they felt that no one knew them well. Fifty-six percent of the people stated that they felt like they were not connected to the people around them.

Forty percent of the people surveyed stated that they lacked companionship. They also stated that they did not have meaningful relationships. The average loneliness score was 44. This means that most Americans are lonely.

The results of this study are consistent with the ones that were found in previous studies. Previous studies have shown that anywhere from 20 to 43 percent of people in America are lonely. Studies have also shown that loneliness can have a negative effect on physical and mental health.

People who are lonely are more likely to have a stroke or heart attack. They are also more likely to develop cancer. There has also been evidence to suggest that people who are lonely are more likely to die prematurely. The elderly are not the only ones who are at risk for dying prematurely due to loneliness. Young people are also more likely to die prematurely if they are lonely.

Additionally, studies have shown that excessive social media use has been linked to suicide and depression in teenagers. The Cigna study did not examine the link between social media use and loneliness. They are hoping that the results of this study will encourage people to have more face-to-face interactions with people.
