Arsenal’s new manager, Unai Emery, has defended Peter Cech and has also confirmed that the Czech Republic goalkeeper will be at the goal post against his former team, Chelsea.
Arsenal is supposed to play against Chelsea on Saturday. The game is expected to be a tough one as it is set to be a London derby. Peter Cech was criticized for his performance during their game against Manchester City, last season’s English Premier League winners. The Gunners lost the match 2-0. It was their first defeat at home. Fans said that the goalkeeper struggled to play out. Many people started to plead that the new goalkeeper at the Emirates stadium should start as the number one goalkeeper. Others claimed that Peter Cech was already old and that he should be replaced with young blood. Many fans and football commentators argued that the 22 million Euros new signing, Bernd Leno, should protect the goal post in the match against the Blues.

On the other hand, Unai Emery dismissed the claims and pleas. He said that the goalkeeper performed despite the fact that he was not lucky enough to save all the balls. Cech had also captained the gunners during the match. The Spanish team manager said that he was impressed with his performance. He went on to say that the keeper had plenty of experience. Emery also added that Cech had the capacity and qualities to play in the game against Chelsea. When asked about the new goalkeeper, he said that Bernd was also a remarkable goalkeeper and that the two were very crucial for the team.

In the coming match, Unai made it very clear that Peter Cech was going to start the match and that he believed in the goalkeeper. He went on to say that, even in future when Bernd will be starting matches, he will believe in him too. Unai Emery told the press that the two players had different qualities. He assured the fans that the two goalkeepers can all play and still perform. The Gunners will be playing the match without Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The player suffered a fractured Fibula and will be out for some time. The Gunners will have to start with Nacho Monreal, or they can even start with Stephan Lichtsteiner at the left back position. Emery made it clear that as a team, they never wanted to have injuries. He wished that they all remained healthy so that they can play fantastic football.
